| Gujarat has entered the second decade of the 21st Century  with signing of total 7,936 MoUs involving record investment of  Rs.20,83,000-crore (USD 450-billion), creating 52 lakh new job  opportunities for the youth, on the concluding day of Vibrant Gujarat  Global Summit here today. In all, 35,000 delegates from 101  countries participated in the two-day biennial mega event, making it a  truly Global Summit. Addressing the valedictory function at  the majestic Mahatma Mandir, Chief Minister Narendra Modi expressed his  firm resolve to ensure Gujarat matched the developed nations of the  world and led India’s economic growth. Gujarat dreams big and the Global  Summit confirms the state’s capacity to realize the dream, he said. He said that this global summit was  not for the capitalists alone, but for the latter to take the corporate  social responsibility of providing basic amenities to the poor. Mr. Modi called for dedicating the  just concluded Summit to the state’s youth and motherhood. He said the  government alone cannot bring qualitative changes in the society, but  people can. If the gap between the government and society can be  bridged, the state can reach new heights. Gujarat is not banking on  politics, but reminding people of their civic responsibilities through  public policies. He said the biggest tribute to the  Mahatma Gandhi would be to make our towns and villages clean. The  developed nations too, rate cleanliness as the top civic sense. Chief Minister said that everyday he  plants a dream in the minds of 5.5 crore Gujaratis. Now, nobody debates  about the success of global summit, however, the focus of debate has  shifted to how far the summit would benefit to the development of India. “Everyone wish that Gujarat should  scale new heights in various sectors, only because Gujarat has adopted  the ways and means for the welfare of humanity.” Chief Minister stated that out of the  total investment of Rs.21-lakh crore, at least forty six percent  investment has gone to small and medium scale industries. Renowned  industrialist Shri Ratan Tata has accepted an obligation to contribute  in social service sector through Mission Mangalam project. Mission Mangalam scheme ensures  welfare and prosperity to all; particularly it aims to inspire the  corporate sectors to redeem their pledge for the welfare of women folk  living below poverty line. Coming on the constructive agenda, 35  top-class corporate companies are to invest Rs.20,000-crore for the  economic empowerment of around 15 lakh women through women’s self-help  groups. It will bring a dawn of development in their lives, said Chief  Minister. He said that the summit witnessed  corporate giants investing heavily for pro-people projects and is a  proof that the summit has become successful in encouraging them to  fulfill their social obligations. He gave credit to ‘Team Gujarat’ for  the success of the global summit. GUJARAT DREAMS GUJARAT DELIVERS.  Gujarat commands respect and confidence of the investors based on its  inherent strength and potential. The 6th edition of Vibrant Gujarat  Summit will be held at Mahatma Mandir on Jan 12 -13, 2013. Shri Modiji  extended advance invitation to the business community to participate the  mega-event. Gujarat matters, the record breaking MoUs worth Rs.21-lakh  crore is going to strengthen the economy of our nation. Minister of Brazil, Shri Jefferson  Dicastro; Uganda’s Minister for Planning, Shri Kamunto Aferaim, Managing  Director of Hitachi Human Life Solutions India, Shri Moto Mori Moto;  Canadain MP Shri Patrick Brown and Rwanda’s Minister for Infrastructure  Shri Ruhamya Koletha while addressing the summit appreciated the  visionary development approach of the Chief Minister. He also affirmed  Gujarat’s strength and potential. They were impressed by the hospitality  extended by Gujarat. Shri A.K.Joti, Chief Secretary,  delivered welcome address. Shri Maheshwar Shahu, Principal Secretary,  Mines and Industries, highlighted the unique features of the summit.  Shri Arun Nanda, Chairman, CII (Western Zone) delivered vote of thanks. Earlier, internationally acclaimed  Japanese singer Amagay presented a popular Hindi song. She also  presented a Japanese song based on the theme of ecology. | |
