Modi expresses concern to PM, Oz High Commission over students attacks New Delhi, June 12 : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Australian High Commissioner John McCarthy in Delhi over the issue of the ongoing racial attacks on Indian students in Australia.

A large number of students from Gujarat are studying in Australia.

Modi called on Dr. Manmohan Singh, particularly to apprise him of the concerns and worries of Gujarati parents, who are worried for the safety of their children, who are studying in Australian colleges.

Congress MPs protest against hooch tragedy in Gujarat

New Delhi, July 13 : Congress Party MPs today staged a protest against hooch tragedy in Gujarat that killed at least 130 people due to consumption of spurious liquor.

Congress has alleged that a BJP Corporator of Mahemdabad Municipality was behind the hooch tragedy.

The protestors led by Congress spokesperson, Rajiv Shukla, demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Modi inaugurates Forensic Science University in Gandhinagar

The Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratory has added another feather to its cap by commencing the formal inauguration of the Gujarat Forensic Science University (GFSU) at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) on Tuesday.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the university, in the presence of Gujarat High Court Chief Justice Radhakrishnan.

Modi claimed that the university is the first-of-its-kind in the world.

On this occasion, M. S. Dahiya's book: Crime Scene Management - A Scientific Approach was also released.

The university has been set up at Gandhinagar.

Narendra Modi takes over as Gujarat Cricket Association president

Narendra Modi takes over as Gujarat Cricket Association president Ahmedabad, Sept 15 : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has taken over as the president of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA).

Modi, who was elected unopossed, takes over from Narhari Amin.

The GCA, affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), governs the game of cricket in Gujarat.

It is involved in the conduct of the game from the grass root level to the International level. (ANI)

Veraval riots: Nanavati Commission not to issue notice against Modi Ahmedabad, Sep. 19 : In a major reprieve for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, the Justice Girish Thakorlal Nanavati Commission on Saturday confirmed that it would not be issuing any notice to him in connection with the communal riots in Veraval.

However, the commission has asked the State Government to give it transcripts of the conversations that took place prior to the riots, during the riots and in its aftermath.

Garba fever rocks Ahmedabad on eighth day of Navartri

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Ahmedabad, Sep. 27 : People in Ahmedabad enjoyed the traditional vibrant folk dance of Garba with full fervour on the eighth day of Navartri.

Clad in traditional colourful dresses with a lot of mirror and handwork, boys and girls danced to the fullest enjoying every moment of the festival on Saturday.
