Narendra Modi On the day Nepal cabinet held a meet at the Everest base camp, Gujarat CM Narendra Modi took his ministers and officials to the white desert — the Rann of Kutch — for a four-day annual brainstorming session or Chintan Shibir, which started on Friday.

manmohansingh-narendramodiGandhinagar, Dec 11 : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Friday asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to seek the states' views before announcing any unilateral commitment on a cut in carbon emissions at the Copenhagen climate summit.

In a letter to the prime minister, released to the media here, Modi said union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh's announcement of India accepting up to 25 per cent cut in carbon emission intensity by 2020 is bound to adversely affect the energy, agriculture, urban development and industrial sectors and hit the long-term development prospects of the states.

Bachchan, who has fans mooning over him the world over, has gone overboard in his praise for Modi and Gujarat after their meeting here Wednesday.

New Delhi, Jan 9 - Despite the global financial crisis, Gujarat's economy was boosted by record-breaking investments made by the Indian diaspora and companies, according to Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking on the concluding day of the three-day Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) 2010, the annual conclave of the Indian diaspora, here Friday, Modi said Gujarat has become a top investment destination in India and this has been proved by the "stupendous success" of the annual Vibrant Gujarat summits that bring overseas Gujaratis together.

"The latest summit in January 2009 was held in the midst of an economic gloom with the world suffering from the global financial crisis," he said.

As a setback to the Gujarat government lead by Narendra Modi, the Supreme Court ordered a CBI probe into the fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh taking the case away from the state.

The Supreme Court expressed its dissatisfaction over the conduct of the case by the state government as the latter failed to conduct impartial investigations and filed conflicting reports.

State has expressed that a CBI probe cannot be ordered as the charge sheet has already been filed. However, a Bench consisting of Justices Tarun Chatterjee and Aftab Alam held that the investigation by the Gujarat police could not be said to be satisfactorily held.
