Over 5,000 farmers on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi demanding cancellation of permission given to Nirma Ltd for setting up a cement plant in Bhavnagar district.

Nirma Ltd is building a cement plant with a capacity of 1.91 million tonnes per annum, along with its captive power and coke oven plant, near Padhiarka village in Mahuva taluka of Bhavnagar district.

Farmers from the villages in vicinity of the upcoming project, under BJP MLA Dr Kanubhai Kalsariya, had taken out a rally on March 3 in protest against the Nirma plant.

Kalsariya, who has gone against the party line in protesting against the project, said he was not "satisfied" with talks with the chief minister who "refused" to give any "commitment" to the farmers who had walked over 350 km from Dholiya village in Mahuva to Gandhinagar in a bid to save their agriculture land.

"Modi said the matter was in the court and whatever it decides, the government would abide by it. He did not give any commitment to farmers," said Kalsariya while addressing mediapersons after meeting the CM.

"This is not only the question of farmers of Mahuva. The voice of farmers across Gujarat was being suppressed and their land was being given to the industries without consulting them", he alleged.

The Mahuva MLA said the agitation against the government policy of promoting industries would continue and the farmers would take it to other parts of the state.

Hyderabad, Dec. 5: Hyderabad-based companies, especially those from information technology and energy, appear to have shown interest in expanding their businesses to Gujarat, says a top official.

“Many IT companies from Andhra Pradesh have shown interest in investing in Gujarat in the areas of technological innovation and transfer,” Mr Maheshwar Sahu, principal secretary, industries and mines department, government of Gujarat, told this correspondent.

Apart from IT firms, Mr Sahu said the Gujarat government got a positive response from companies, who are interested in investing in energy (thermal and green) and infrastructure sector in the state.

The Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi was in the state as part of a series of pre-summit events for Vibrant Gujarat 2011, a biennial investors summit hosted by the government of Gujarat.

Mr Modi held a close-door meeting with CEOs of select few companies based in Hyderabad and addressed a group of business delegates on Sunday here, inviting them to invest in his state.

Complimenting the city for its prowess in information technology, Mr Modi claimed that his state is one of the biggest clients and customers of IT in Hyderabad and there is an immense scope of learning for Gujarat in this sector.

On the eve of Gujarat Election 2007, Tehelka, English weekly, has dug out a hot piece from Godhra urn. In a sting operation, the weekly has unmasked many top leaders of RSS, VHP and Bhartiya Janta Party, who have played controversial role during riots broken out after Sabarmati Express inferno. Ganesha looks into the matter and gives his observations.

Tehelka weekly linked Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi with the 2002 Gujarat riots through a series of sting operations. The BJP, however, dismissed the Tehelka 'sting' as a 'collusive operation'.

The whole episode comes to fore while transiting Moon passing through the 6th house of Modi's natal chart separating from the Rahu situated therein causing a few awkward and anxious moment raising eyebrows of political leaders. The transiting Rahu is approaching the 6th house Lord Jupiter, indicating hyper activities from Modi's opponents and rivals. The situation may worsen in coming months. Rahu in the 6th house of Modi's chart has always given him strong enemies who have never missed a single opportunity to oppose but with his shrewdness and firm determination, Modi has cleared every acid test single-handedly and has come out as winner in the end. The transiting Mercury moving retrograde so we can expect media hype on this issue in next few days.

Ever since he entered the Sun Mahadasha, his enemies became more active and come out publicly blaming him on various issues. He is currently passing through the Sun-Mars period and Mars is strong in his natal chart but debilitated in both the D-9 and D-10 charts; this may create some worries for him. His opponents may try to tarnish his image during this election season and in year 2008 as well. He will have to be very watchful to save his public image till October 2008, as Rahu Bhukti may also prove difficult because Rahu is debilitated in D-10 chart. From November 2008, he may have major shift in his political career and in his role in the party as well.

Narendra Modi’s thriving Gujarat is not in pink of health

Ahmedabad:

If you thought Gujarat's economy is growing and prosperous, you are right. But what most of you probably did not know that there is a dark side to the rapid growth. It is not communal divide but a high rate of malnutrition that is fast turning out to be the underbelly of a growing and thriving state.

A brainstorming session of the Gujarat government to discuss what has been achieved, what has gone wrong and what could be or needs to be done throws light on some alarming facts on the state of nutrition security.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi, his ministers,150 top bureaucrats and key policymakers are currently meeting in the four-day closed-door chintan shibir.

The Indian Express has accessed the discussion papers.

Sample this. Though the agricultural growth stood at 9.6 per cent in the last 10 years — three to four times the national average — and milk production increased by 66 per cent, every second child under five years of age is underweight.

BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) is the main opposition party of India, led presently by Lal Krishna Advani. Leaders include former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh and others. In the last blog, we talked about Congress Horoscope as part of our efforts to encourage Voters to use astrological predictions about the candidates (political parties as well) as they go to the polls. Here, we discuss the horoscope details of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP was formed on Sunday 6th April, 1980 at 11:45 AM in New Delhi. The corresponding planetary positions, Vedic horoscope and Vimshottari mahadasha details are listed here. BJP lagna is Gemini and Moon rasi is Scorpio. Note the connection of lagna lord with ninth and moon as ninth lord in scorpio, both signifying strong religious connection. The Vimsottari Mahadasha shows currently running Mercury Bhukti in Venus mahadasha. Note transit saturn will occupy a very favorable position in Virgo from scorpio moon from Sept. 2009. The horoscope is considerably strong when judged from Moon with many yogas present for power more so during subsequent Sun Mahadasha.
