When Narendra Modi Halted a Cricket Match...

What happened when the chief minister of the state decided to put himself directly behind the bowlers’ arm? Why, it stops the match of course!
The first of seven one day internationals between India and England was not without its dignitaries. The chief amongst these was Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, who in company of Niranjan Shah, the former secretary of the BCCI.
Shah should have known better. The politician may have wanted to the best viewing angle of the match; but the cricket administrator should have been smart enough to advise him that the seats adjacent to the sight screen was not the most ideal, for the batsmen that is.
As it happened, while Modi cut a smiling, content picture, the England batsmen were not amused. Not only were they up against an uphill, virtually impossible battle, now they had to deal with Modi’s exhaustive entourage that kept spilling over bang in front of the sight screen.
This follows just after Matthew Hayden has gone back home complaining of similar incidents in “third world countries” that impeded batsmen from foreign countries.

Remember the article from a day ago that asked to report any such incident happening in a foreign country, sadly the first such incident has again happened in India.
Tut! Tut! We should have known better.
