Modi calls for scientific methods to strengthen internal security
Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said it is high time that the police and various other security agencies develop modern and scientific methods to strengthen internal security with the help of skilled manpower.
“Losing our policemen and defence personnel in battlefields is no solution to the security challenges. The situation inviting war, communalism, terrorism and other emergencies can be tackled by taking the issue of internal security seriously and preparing the personnel in advance,” Modi said at a seminar on ‘Human Resource Development and Security Challenges’ at Raksha Shakti University (RSU) here.
“The conventional security and safety management system demands a paradigm shift in work style through scientific research and analysis,” he added.
On the importance of local information gathering, Modi said: “Former Rajasthan CM Bhairon Singh Shekhwat had joined police as a constable. When he was the CM, he faced a challenging situation when a top Congressman’s son was abducted. He used his police training and asked his officers to find out only one thing: if there was any house in the neighbouring villages that was ordering extra milk. The officers traced the house and the child was found.”
