Coimbatore, Feb 9 (PTI) Former BJP president Bangaru Laxman today called upon all opposition parties to join hands to defeat DMK in the coming assembly polls schedled in May in Tamil Nadu. DMK, an ally of the UPA government at the Centre, had failed to control price rise and immersed in scams Laxman told reporters here. As the Centre was diverting funds earmarked for different purpose, including the fund to be given to the poor and dalit students, to host Common Wealth games, while in Tamil Nadu, DMK government was diverting the funds meant for welfare scheme for 'freebies' such as colour television and rs.one kg rice, etc, to reap political benefits, he alleged.
