The Chief Minister Narendra Modi is the supreme leader in the populous state of Gujarat – the state has a population of over 65 million inhabitants – which is the home of the new Rockwool factory.

From the beginning of 2011, we expect this factory to be a bridgehead for the fast growing Indian market for technical insulation as well as for export into the Gulf region.

India is generally an exciting market, which the Rockwool Group intend to further develop moving forward. The meeting between the group of executives and the Chief Minister underlines the good relationship, which is highly appreciated by the Rockwool Group and the authorities in India.

During the visit to India, which also included a special ceremony to bless the construction site according to local tradition, CEO Eelco van Heel informed the Chief Minister about the energy saving potential both in industrial applications and in buildings.

Eelco van Heel also highlighted the Rockwool Groups’ extensive experience with insulation of buildings in tropical environments in Malaysia.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi told that the state of Gujarat is very concerned about environmental issues. Moreover, he expressed his wishes to intensify the contact between the authorities and the Rockwool Group in order to continue the good cooperation.

CEO Eelco van Heel was accompanied on the trip to India by Division Managing Director Klaus Franz, Managing Director of Rockwool Germany Volker Christmann and Technical Director Bartosz Stentoft, who is leading the construction project in India.
