Supreme Court today rejected a petition seeking directive to the Central Bureau of Investigation to question Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The petition was filed by the father of Haren Pandya, ex Gujarat Minister who was murdered in mysterious circumstances. The incident had taken place in March 2003.

Vitthal Pandya father of Haren Pandya had contended that in the earlier probe Narendra Modi was not questioned and so he should be questioned. Pandya and Modi who were quite close initially had turned bitter political enemy and the murder of Pandya had brought Modi in a tight corner.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India K Balakrishnan said that they had no ground to go for the pray made in the petition and so it could not be entertained. Vitthal Pandya father of Haren has launched a sustained campaign against Modi as he believes that Modi was behind the murder of Haren which is still unsolved.
