Gujarat Assembly Election 2007 with a comfortable majority

Narendra Modi is the Chief Minister of Gujarat. He was born on September 17, 1950 in Mehsana, Gujarat.

Modi completed his schooling in Vadnagar and graduated in Political Science from Gujarat University. He was the student leader of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (All India Students Council).

His political career started after he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist organization in 1967. He was involved in the “Nav Nirman” (Reconstruction) movement. He joined the Bhartiya Janata Party in 1980. He was appointed as the General Secretary of the Gujarat State BJP unit in 1988. He became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001.

He led the BJP to win the 2002 Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections with 126 seats in the 182-member assembly. He was appointed again as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on December 22, 2002.

Narinder Modi is the longest serving Chief minister in History of Gujarat and his next test will be in 2012 when the Assembly polls fall due. He has already won two terms and a third win or loss will be crucial not only for his political future but also for the BJP. He has been able to rope in leading industrialists on his side during this tenure and gaining in stature on the basis of his performance now. He has been under fire for his alleged mismanagement or complicity in 2002 Gujarat riots. Let us examine his chart astrologically. Modi was born on Sept 17, 1950 at Vadnagar in North Gujarat. The planet configuration obtaining at that time reveals the secret of his immense popularity. His ascendant is Libra. The ascendant lord Venus and the yogkarak planet Saturn in the 11th house aspected by Jupiter form a strong Rajyoga in his chart. The 11th house is considered as the house of growth.
This is such a powerful rajayoga that it gives tremendous energy to the native and his dynamics of understanding ground realities is terrific. On the eve of Gujarat Election 2007, Tehelka, English weekly, has dug out a hot piece from Godhra urn. In a sting operation, the weekly has unmasked many top leaders of RSS, VHP and Bhartiya Janta Party, who have played controversial role during riots broken out after Sabarmati Express inferno. Ganesha looks into the matter and gives his observations.

Tehelka weekly linked Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi with the 2002 Gujarat riots through a series of sting operations. The BJP, however, dismissed the Tehelka 'sting' as a 'collusive operation'.

The whole episode comes to fore while transiting Moon passing through the 6th house of Modi's natal chart separating from the Rahu situated therein causing a few awkward and anxious moment raising eyebrows of political leaders. The transiting Rahu is approaching the 6th house Lord Jupiter, indicating hyper activities from Modi's opponents and rivals. The situation may worsen in coming months. Rahu in the 6th house of Modi's chart has always given him strong enemies who have never missed a single opportunity to oppose but with his shrewdness and firm determination, Modi has cleared every acid test single-handedly and has come out as winner in the end. He is currently passing through the Sun-Mars period and Mars is strong in his natal chart but debilitated in both the D-9 and D-10 charts; this may create some worries for him. His opponents may try to tarnish his image during this election season and in year 2008 as well. He will have to be very watchful to save his public image till October 2008, as Rahu Bhukti may also prove difficult because Rahu is debilitated in D-10 chart. From November 2008, he may have major shift in his political career and in his role in the party as well.
